Alicia Graves, a Republican, has declared her candidacy for the District 5 seat of the Bloomington City Council.
“It is time to bring fresh ideas to the city council that will better our community,” Graves said in a news release announcing her candidacy. “I am dedicated and determined to make this city not only family oriented but business friendly as well.”
Graves attends Ivy Tech, where she is studying in the paralegal program. She also holds a certified nursing assistant license and is currently a substitute teacher for the Monroe County Community School Corp.
Isabel Piedmont, a Democrat, has also announced her candidacy for the District 5 seat. The seat is held by Republican David Sabbagh.
Others who have filed for office by Thursday at the county clerk’s office include: Steve Volan for the District 6 city council seat; Susan Sandberg for a city council at-large seat; and Sandy Hash for Ellettsville clerk-treasurer.
Feb. 23 is the deadline for candidates to file for the May 8 primary.
